Steven E. Parks
Welcome to my page of our firm's website. I have been an attorney for 27 years. I concentrate my law practice in the following areas:
FAMILY LAW including divorce, custody, parenting time, child support, paternity, revocation of paternity, step-parent adoption and pre-nuptial agreements. JUVENILE LAW AND COURTS, including representation of parents and children in abuse/neglect cases and children in delinquency matters. I have extensive trial work at both the jurisdictional phase and termination of parental rights phase. ESTATE PLANNING AND PROBATE, including Wills, Trusts, Probate, Guardianships and Conservatorships.
I am a Michigan native having been raised in Union City, Michigan and graduating from high school there in 1971. I then attended Central Michigan University and earned a B.S. degree in education. I obtained my first teaching position in northwest suburban Chicago and became a business education teacher and coach. I taught business law, accounting, typing and general business and coached basketball, baseball and cross country. I became very interested in the law while teaching the business law curriculum. Ultimately I chose to pursue a career in law. I graduated from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 1988. I started my legal career in Peoria, Illinois where I practiced for over 4 year. While in Peoria I had an opportunity to be involved in asbestos litigation. While that was a tremendous learning opportunity I concluded that is not what I wanted to do. I wanted to practice law so that I could help meet the needs of clients with varying issues. I have been able to do that in Battle Creek.
I hold a Certificate of Completion in the area of Family Law issued by the Institute of Continuing Legal Education and the Family Law section of the State Bar of Michigan. I also am chairperson of the Family Law Practice Committee of the Calhoun County Bar Association.
I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you and discuss your legal issues. You can contact our law firm at 269-979-3990.
